2008 Big Spike Contest - Pineywoods Division

Whitetail buck deer (“entries”) must have been taken in Angelina, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine or Shelby Counties of Texas.

Entries must be taken by legal means in accordance with all applicable Federal and State hunting regulations. Entries must be taken by fair chase and will not be accepted if taken within or upon high-fenced property. Entries will be scored as a Gross Typical in accordance with the recognized standards of the Boone & Crockett scoring system. Entries must be registered and brought into Wulf Outdoor Sports during normal business hours. Entries will be scored at Wulf Outdoor Sports in Center, Texas. 10 highest scoring entries will be rescored by a panel at the close of the contest. (All scoring determinations by this panel are final)

Entries must have been taken during the 2008-2009 Texas whitetail deer season (This includes rifle and archery seasons).

This contest will close at the end of legal shooting hours on January 4th, 2009 and no entries will be accepted after store closing hours on January 5th, 2009. Contestants may enter more than once; however, only one entry per contestant will be eligible for prizes.

Winners are subject to a Polygraph. The name of the individual registering the entry must be the same as the name appearing on the tag affixed to the entry.

Must be at least 16 years of age to enter. Contestant must be entered into the contest prior to taking the entry. The ten highest scoring entries will be notified of the date and time to have entry scored by the panel. Failure to appear at the designated time and place may result in forfeiture of the entry.

Spikes must have 2 un-branched antlers with no broken tines. Contest will start September 27, 2008 and end January 5, 2009. Spikes will be scored by the following means:
      1) Length of each antler, plus
      2) Greatest spread, plus
      3) Circumference of each base.

All contestants who register for the Big Spike Contest must also enter either the Big Buck Contest or the Big Buck Archery Contest.
